Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police say detonated suspicious package found in downtown Wednesday was filled with books.

The bomb squad's robot intentionally detonated the item around 2:30 p.m. The package was discovered at the intersection of Washington and Assembly Street. Later, they determined that the books were inside.

Just down the road at the intersection of Assembly and Lady, officers found another suspicious item, but it was later determined to be a bookbag with clothing inside.

Because of the reports, traffic in downtown Columbia was blocked for over an hour and a half.

There was also a third report of an item found on Garners Ferry Road and Rosewood Drive, but that was quickly determined to be untrue and traffic was allowed to return to normal quickly.
