Columbia, SC (WLTX)- Friday was a bittersweet evening for Ralph Schmidt.

"There will be some tears and a lot of joy at Kemopalooza tonight," said Ralph Schmidt.

Schdmidt's wife, Jeanne Schmidt, passed away last September.

"We were married 32 incredible years and I saw that smile everyday. It lit up my life and magnified my soul," said Schmidt.

Jeanne was the Director at Camp Kemo for 12 years, a program she poured her heart and soul into.

Camp Kemo is one of the programs at the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital, a camp for kids and siblings affected by cancer.

"Camp Kemo is a magical place," said Ralph. " For 51 weeks out of the year they have been the kid with cancer and now for one week they get to be a normal kid."

Over 700 people attended this years Kemopalooza, all of the money raised will go toward Camp Kemo programs.
