Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Hundreds of people are coming together for the "Coaches Vs. Cancer B-Ball of the South" event Friday night.
The event is hosted by USC Men's Basketball Coach Frank Martin and his wife, Anya, to benefit The American Cancer Society. Big name basketball coaches from across the country are flying in to throw their support behind Coach Martin and his wife.
Anya Martin spearheaded the entire program after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been cancer-free for ten months now, but the event changed Anya's life forever.
"Too many times in life it's all about yourself and what you want to accomplish, and how busy you are, but tonight is all about my mom, and how much I love her," Anya said.
The event features a "Kentucky Derby theme" with green turf and all. WLTX's own Andrea Mock will speak at the event about how cancer has affected her family.
