Royal remains: Skull of the skeleton found at the Grey Friars excavation in Leicester (via CNN)
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are trying to figure out how human remains were found in the woods near the Stono River in Charleston County.
Investigators say two men walking through the woods to launch a canoe Friday afternoon found the skull and other remains.
Authorities say they have determined the remains are from a white male. They plan an autopsy and other tests to figure out how long the remains have been in the woods, the man's identity and a cause of his death.
Deputies say it is too early to try to link the remains to any open investigation or missing person.
