Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Top ranked Vanderbilt used superb pitching and raced out to a five to nothing lead en route to a 5-2 win over ninth ranked South Carolina Saturday at Carolina Stadium.
The Gamecocks found it near-impossible to hit Commodore pitching. Vanderbilt's Tyler Beede had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning and picked up the win. Beede is undefeated on the season (12-0).
South Carolina got on the board in the bottom frame of the seventh. Both Max Shrock and Sean Sullivan registered RBIs for the only two runs for the Garnet and Black. With the loss South Carolina drops to 33-14 and 13-10 in the conference.
Sunday's game has been moved up to a noon first pitch due to the threat of inclement weather.
