Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A man will spend seven years in prison for an arson at a Columbia bar last year.
Thursday, a judge sentenced Theodore Walter Podewil to 15 years and suspended that down to seven for torching the Salty Nut Cafe back in January of 2012.
Officers say Podewil took a beer bottle and turned it into an incendiary device, then threw it through the window of the business. No one was hurt, but the building suffered $300,000 in damage.
Salty Nut eventually reopened several months later.
When he's released, Podewil will be on probation and will have to get mental health counseling and random drug and alcohol testing.
