COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and her husband earned $284,000 in her second year as the state's CEO, with $175,000 of that as the remaining advance on her memoir.
That's according to 2012 tax returns she allowed reporters to view in her office Monday.
The first couple paid more than $31,700 in state and federal taxes. They were due a federal refund of $6,266 but chose to apply the amount toward 2013 instead.
The tax forms show the couple earned a combined $170,912 from her job as governor and his with the South Carolina National Guard.
Her book made a profit of less than $110,000 last year, after subtracting expenses.
The couple gave $130,000 to charity with $10,000 going to her church and the rest to her community aid foundation.
