Forest Acres, SC (WLTX) - Forest Acres police are asking for the public's help in a fatal hit and run from this past weekend.
The incident took place June 8th around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Two Notch Road and Pinebelt. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found 44-year-old Charles Leroy Brown lying in the roadway.
Brown was taken to the hospital where he died.
Police say they believe a woman walking down the road and a man on a bicycle may have witnessed the incident and could help in the investigation.
Lieutenant Bryant Hinson of the Forest Acres Police Department said, "There was a gentleman on a bicycle who saw it and was yelling what he had seen and of course road off."
"There was also a female that was telling what she had seen, we have been unable to locate them at this point," said Hinson.
Officers have also said they believe they have developed a person of interest in the case, but haven't announced who they think that person is.
They do, however, say they're looking for a vehicle which should have front end damage and may have been in the Gaston or Swansea area in the days following the accident.
Hinson said, "We know that there are people out there that know what happened and we need them to come forward."
