Sumter, SC (WLTX) - A bond hearing was held early Saturday morning for the Sumter church minister that is accused of sexually assaulting three female church members.
According to Sumter Police Deputy Chief Alvin Holston, Larry Durant is being held with a $120,000 Surety Bond.
Officers arrested 58-year-old Larry Durant and charged him with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor second degree (ages 11-14 years old) and four counts of criminal sexual conduct third degree.
According to detectives, he coerced the victims into sexual intercourse by using his position, saying the acts were all part of a "healing process' and "private prayer."
Police say the incidents took place at Word International Ministry on Manning Avenue and North Guignard Drive. There were also reports of incidents at his home.
Officers also charged him with forgery, after they say he forged the name of one of the victim's grandmother on a quit claim deed and filed it with the Sumter County Register of Deeds. Officers say the forgery occurred after the sexual assaults were reported to law enforcement.
Police say there's a possibility there could be additional victims, and they're asking people to come forward and talk to their investigators.
