HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - A teen injured a 2011 car crash that killed the driver has sued the driver's father seeking payment for medical bills and punitive damages.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head Island reports (http://bit.ly/12qelaS) that Megan Shepherd earlier this month sued Ken Walton, the father of Kendall Watson.
Kendall Watson was driving a car that ran into a tree in Beaufort County, killing her and injuring Shepherd and three other passengers.
The lawsuit says Kendall Walton drove negligently and recklessly, and that her father was negligent in allowing her to drive.
The suit says Shepherd suffered serious, permanent injuries, though it does not elaborate.
Ken Walton would not talk about the lawsuit.
A sheriff's investigation determined Walton bought alcohol with an ID that did not belong to her before the crash.
