CLINTON, S.C. (AP) - Clinton police say a 29-year-old man has been charged in the strangulation death of a teen after they attended a party with alcohol and drugs.
Police Chief Robin Morse said Emily-Anna Asbill died Saturday night after she was choked.
Investigators arrested Michael Beaty Jr. on Monday and charged him with murder. Police say he and Asbill dated occasionally.
Morse says about an hour elapsed between when Beaty and Asbill left the party and Beaty pulled up to his stepfather's home with Asbill unconscious in his car.
Police didn't give a motive for the killing. It wasn't known if Beaty had a lawyer.
Laurens County deputies say Beaty and five other people have been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because they gave Asbill alcohol and drugs.
