Gilbert, SC (WLTX)- Peaches by the thousands and people by the thousands--this is what makes up the annual Lexington County Peach Festival.

"The main thing about this is that all of the workers are volunteers and everything is homemade," said Stacey Ashley, a volunteer for the peach festival.

Peach ice cream is one of the peach flavored treats that is being served up at the annual festival in Gilbert. Sue Caughman and her family have been working the ice cream booth for 30 of the 55 years.

"This makes me a little emotional because freedom is a gift and festivals like this don't happen in other parts of the world," said Sue. "I just don't think any of us can take this for granted."

United States Senator Tim Scott led the way as the parade Grand Marshall in celebration of America's birthday.

"This celebration for us means that we recognize the importance of our founding fathers and what makes America great," said Tim Scott.
