Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A sudden storm brought flash flooding to parts of the greater Columbia area Sunday night.

The heaviest rains from the storm began moving in around 6 p.m.

Parts of the area saw betwen 2 and 4.5 inches of rain.

Flooded streets were reported all over the area. At the Rocky Branch Creek near USC's campus, cars that attempted to cross the flooded streets stalled out in the roadway. At its peak, the creek was 11.73 feet high, the third highest level ever at that location.

News19 also had reports of several homes flooded in the Forest Acres area and in other parts of Richland and Lexington Counties.

Power outages were also a problem, as some trees fell on electrical lines. At one point, almost 4,000 homes and businesses serviced by SCE&G had no power. In West Columbia, downed power lines fell on a fire truck, briefly trapping the driver in the vehicle.
