Elgin, SC (WLTX) - More than one hundred people gathered Wednesday night to honor the life of Gabbiee Swainson.
Just a few hundred feet away from where Gabbiee Swainson's body was found, more than 100 members of the community gathered for a candlelight vigil.
"It was indescribable and unimaginable, I have three sons of my own and I know what it is to be a mother, but I don't know what it is to lose a child, but I do feel very strong about what happened to Gabbiee and I hope that it never happen to anyone else," said Diann Davis.
"I was hurt, I was angry because I know she didn't just get up and leave in her pajamas, we just wanted answers and I guess as a community that is what everyone wanted," said Michelle Bently.
Many people say they are upset with the time he received but wanted to come and show their support and show that a community can come together in the midst of tragedy.
"It's not what we want and it is just heartbreaking, it just rips you apart," said Kerri Baker.
"We don't know exactly where she was killed but we know she was buried not too far from here and it was difficult for the people in this town and in our county to know that it happened here but it makes me feel good to know that so many people came out here to support the family," said Sheriff Jim Mathews.
Gabbiee's funeral will be Sunday at 6PM at Right Direction Church in Columbia.
