Eutawville, SC (WLTX/AP) -- The former chief of the Eutawville Police Department has been released on bond from the Orangeburg County jail.
Richard Combs is charged in connection with the May 2, 2011 death of a man outside the Eutawville Town Hall.
A grand jury has charged Combs with misconduct in the shooting death of 54-year-old Bernard Bailey. Combs was put on leave after the shooting and eventually left his job as the town's police chief.

The indictment accuses Combs of unnecessarily using deadly force during a confrontation with Bailey outside the Eutawville Town Hall.
A judge set bond at $15,000 dollars, and Combs posted the 10 percent necessary to be able to leave the jail.
Prosecutor David Pascoe said in March he was continuing the investigation after the U.S. Justice Department said it would not file charges.
