Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The first ever Share at the Fair donation drive brought in more than 4,770 pounds of food for the Harvest Hope Food Bank Saturday at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.

Those who donated food at Saturday's event received a free entrance ticket to this year's South Carolina State Fair.

South Carolina State Fair General Manager Gary Goodwin presented a $25,000 donation to Harvest Hope, representing the amount of food collected.  The food collected will provide more than 100,000 meals to struggling families in South Carolina.

Members of the South Carolina Gamecocks' men's basketball, baseball, volleyball, men's tennis, and softball teams attended the event.

"It is very important that our athletes are student-athletes at this university that care about the community activities throughout the year," said South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner.

Harvest Hope helps over 9,000 people across 20 counties in South Carolina everyday.
