GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - An advocacy group is suing federal nuclear regulators over documents they say would prove the government is covering up concern over what would happen to Oconee Nuclear Station if the Jocassee Dam ever fails.
Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington against the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The suit says the NRC improperly cited the Freedom of Information Act to withhold internal communications that show NRC engineers' concern over Oconee's plans for dealing with a dam failure.
The group says the NRC refused to release some records and released edited versions of others.
An NRC spokesman says the agency will present its case in court.
