(WLTX) --- In the wake of his team's win over Georgia, head coach Dabo Swinney touched on a number of topics in his post-game news conference including the emergence of a former Midlands player and his perception his team isn't receiving the respect it deserves.
Sumter's Rod McDowell rushed for 132 yards on 22 carries and impressed the head coach with the way he made yards after contact. Swinney also commented on the way McDowell patiently waited his turn behind CJ Spiller and Andre Ellington and now, has seized his opportunity.
Swinney's most passionate response came when he was asked what the two wins over Georgia and LSU does for the Tiger program. The coach went on to list six schools who have shown the most consistency in the last 30 weeks with Clemson being in that group.
"How come they don't say where is all these others," Swinney said.
"Because the only ones on that list [teams ranked last 30 weeks] are LSU, Alabama, Oregon, Stanford, South Carolina and Clemson. There are a whole lot of other great programs that are not on that list. So why don't y'all write about them? Because Clemson has been as consistent as anybody in the country. We haven't won them all but them other teams haven't won it all either. But that seems like that always wants to come up. People always bring up something that happened from five years ago. We need to move on. Let's get a different storyline. Let's talk about what we have done, not what we haven't done. We are beyond that. Our players deserve better than that."
