Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Columbia Police Officers arrested two men on drug charges in separate incidents over the weekend in Five Points.
According to CPD Offficer Jennifer Timmons, the first arrest happened around 11PM Friday night, when an Officer witnessed the suspect, 28 year old Timothy Love, Jr. in a conversation with another person, and saw a hand-to-hand exchange.
When that Officer attempted to approach the individuals, they ran, and a chase on foot started.
Love apparently failed to yield to the Officer's commands to stop running, and tried to hide between to vehicles in a parking lot on Greene Street before trying to again run away from Officers.
According to the Police report, the Officer saw Love threw a baggie, with a white powdery substance inside, on the ground while running, which later field-tested positive for cocaine.
They also located another bag in that parking lot Love attempted to hide in, which Officers field-tested and report contained marijuana.
Love has been charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute for the bag of cocaine and the bag of marijuana. He also is being charged with failure to stop on Police command, pedestrian under the influence, and littering.
The second arrest happened at approximately 12:30AM Saturday, when an Officer reported witnessing a vehicle producing loud music on Harden Street. As the Officer approached the vehicle, he reports smelling marijuana smoke, and so requested the suspect's permission to search the vehicle and the suspect's person.
25 year old Kelly Cokley was placed under arrest following the search, during which the Officer reports they discovered a plastic baggie containing marijuana pinned inside Cokley's boxer shorts.
During the arrest the Officer reports another baggie fell to the ground, this containing marijuana as well as a white rock substance that field-tested positive for containing cocaine. CPD's Officer also reported the discovery of over $1,200 in cash.
Cokley has been charged with two counts of Possession of Marijuana, and Manufacturing/Distribution of Cocaine.
Both Love and Cokley were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
