Michael Butler Unseats Paul Miller to Become Orangeburg Mayor

Orangeburg, SC (WLTX)  Orangeburg has a new mayor, after Michael C. Butler beat incumbent Paul A. Miller Jr. in Tuesday's election.  

Butler also becomes the first African-American mayor in the city's history.

Butler received 844 votes, while Miller received 731 votes and write in candidate Zipporah Sumpler received 13 votes in an election where 1,603 ballots were cast. 

In District 3, incumbent Charles B. "Buddy" Barnwell Jr. wins with 183 votes to Jerry Goldstein Hannah's 126.  

No election for District 5 and District 1 as both seats had no opposition so they stay the same with District 5 Liz Zimmerman and District 1 Richard Stroman getting another four-year term.
