Vehicle Accident Ejects 2, Kills Clemson Student

Calhoun County, SC (WLTX)- One person is dead after a truck lost control, veered off the highway and overturned, ejecting multiple passengers.

The 2005 Chevy Truck was traveling South on Secondary 287 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, over corrected left, and right again, sending the vehicle into several tree's before it overturned, ejecting at least two of its passengers.

The passenger in that vehicle, Sarah Ann Comer, 21, of Hickory Grove, SC, died as a result of the injuries she obtained in the crash. Comer was a senior at Clemson University studying Agricultural Education, according to Clemson University Media Relations Director Robin Denny.

The driver, 26-year-old Barry Quattlebaum was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Quattlebaum was transported by Helicopter to Palmetto Richland Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries according to Calhoun County Coroner, Donnie Porth.

The third passenger, Kelly Howell, 23, was transported to Lexington Hospital, her injuries are also non-life threatening.

This accident will continue to be investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Calhoun County Coroner.
