Deputies: West Columbia Man Allegedly Steals $25K Worth of Items

Lexington, SC (WLTX)  Lexington deputies have arrested a man on charges that he stole items totaling over $25,000 in the last three months. 

Two all-terrain vehicles, one golf cart, one fishing boat, one chainsaw, a video camera, farm equipment and scrap metal were the items that Lexington deputies say were stolen between May 21 and September 5.

Gene Carroll "Fuzzy" Rutland Jr., 31 of West Columbia has been charged with six counts of grand larceny.  He is being held at the Lexington County Detention center while awaiting a bond hearing. 

Detectives also arrested Rutland's live-in girlfriend, Rachel Ann Hobson, 35 on charges of accessory after the fact to a felony and obstruction of justice.  She is also awaiting a bond hearing. 

Sheriff Metts said the case remains under investigation and additional charged could be filed against Rutland.
