Richland County, SC (WLTX) - The government shutdown is having an impact on the Congaree National Park in the Midlands.
A park spokesperson tells News19 most of the staff will be furloughed, and the park is being closed to visitors.
Currently, the staff is contacting people who are camping in the park and are telling them they have 48 hours to leave. They're also telling schools who'd planned trips there about the shutdown.
Law enforcement staff will remain on duty, as will a maintenance employee.
State parks in South Carolina are not affected.
