Newberry County, SC (WLTX) - A driver is facing charges after troopers say she hit a Newberry County deputy.
The incident took place around 11:40 Monday night on Highway 395 near Mendenhall Road.
The deputy had gone to that location after hearing about a traffic accident involving a deer and a car.
While the officer was investigating the accident, deputies say a Ford Mustang drove up to the scene, left the road, hit the deputy's vehicle, then crossed a ditch toward the deputy.
The deputy tried to get out of the way but was hit in the leg.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster says the deputy was treated and released from Newberry Hospital for minor injuries.
State troopers charged the driver of the Mustang, 39-year-old Tonya Dawn Crapps, with reckless driving.
