Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The City of Columbia has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the 100 to 400 blocks of Stockland Road in Irmo.
A 10 inch diameter water main broke, causing potential contamination of drinking water.
The City of Columbia Water Works advises residents of the 100 to 400 blocks of Stockton Road to vigorously boil all tap water for one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
Any ice made from water that was not previously boiled should be discarded and not used for drinking purposes.
The City is currently working to repair the water main.
Additionally, any residents who live near the affected area that experienced a drop in water pressure or loss of water service are also strongly advised to follow this boil-water advisory as well.
The City of Columbia Water Works will provide notification when this advisory is lifted.
