ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad is in South Carolina this week.
Rashad is speaking Tuesday to students at Claflin University in Orangeburg. The event is part of the South Carolina Democratic Party's 2013 College Tour.
Organizers say Rashad and party chairman Jaime Harrison are talking to students about the importance of civic engagement and student involvement in politics.
The event will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the W.V. Middleton Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
Rashad and Harrison are also making a stop later Tuesday at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
