Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating after numerous people have received calls from someone claiming to be a power or electirc co-op employee.
The caller will provide an "employee ID number" to make it seem more authentic. They then they tell you you are in default of your bill and unless you get them a prepaid credit card, your power will be cut off.
State Attorney General Alan Wilson says this is a scam and don't fall for it. If you get one of these calls, contact your local law enforcement agency.
