St. Andrews, SC (WLTX)  A fire broke out at the Ashton Apartments in St. Andrews forcing some residents to jump and one be rescued from their balconies.

The fire, which began shortly after 9 p.m. Monday night, gutted one of the buildings in the complex.  A smaller fire broke out a short time later in another of the buildings.

Columbia fire chief Aubrey Jenkins hasn't ruled out arson and has said that Richland County will be investigating.

No word yet on how many residents are homeless and no cause or damage estimate is available.

Red Cross is assisting with those displaced.
