Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have arrested a Columbia police officer they say was driving drunk.
Officer charged Steven Joshua White, 30, with driving under the influence early Sunday morning.
According to an incident report, around 3:45 a.m. a deputy noticed White driving erratically along Pulaski, Blossom, and Huger Streets in Columbia. When the officer pulled White over, the officer said he smelled alcohol.
After searching the vehicle, the deputy reported finding what appeared to be a alcoholic drink in the center console and an empty vodka mini-bottle, and another empty bottle in the backseat.
The officer said White was also unsteady on his feet. White was then taken into custody and transported to the jail.
White has been suspended without pay from the police department pending the outcome of his case.
