Man Identified After Saturday Morning Wreck In Sumter

Sumter, SC (WLTX)- One person is dead after a morning wreck on SC-261 in Sumter Saturday according to The South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Just after 8 am Saturday Morning the highway patrol responded to a wreck on SC-261 after a four door Buick ran off the road, hitting a ditch, overturning and striking a tree.

The driver, Esau Greene, 64 of Bronx, NY was visiting family in Pinewood, SC. Green was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene according to the Sumter County Coroner. The Passenger of the vehicle was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition.

The passenger was not wearing a seat belt. Updates of his conditions have not been released.

The accident remains under investigation by The South Carolina Highway Patrol.
