Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Dr. Debra Hamm has been named the new Richland Two Superintendent.
She was previously the interm superintendent.
A vote of the Board of Trustees Tuesday night removed the interim title.
"Dr. Hamm is a longstanding member of the Richland Two Family and we are so happy that she has agreed to serve our students and our community as superintendent, " said Dr. Bill Flemming, chair of the Richland Two Board of Trustees.
"I am honored to have the privilege of working alongside so many outstanding educators and to be a part of a community that cares so much about kids, " said Dr. Hamm.
Dr. Hamm's background in Richland Two includes serving in the roles of Curriculum Specialist, Coordinator of Staff Development and Gifted and Talented Education, Director of Research and Evaluation, Chief Academic Officer, Chief Information Officer, and most recently, Interim Superintendent.
Previously Dr. Hamm worked as a teacher in Sumter and also supervised the Teacher Assessment Unit at the SC State Department of Education. She has been with Richland Two for 33 years.
Dr. Hamm received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Research from the University of South Carolina. She has been married to local prominent attorney, Steve Hamm, for 40 years and is the proud parent of two adult children (both Richland Two graduates) and three grandchildren
