Spartanburg, SC -- BMW Manufacturing Co. said this morning it will begin immediate hiring to fill production and logistics positions at the Greer assembly plant.
The company said the head count would total nearly 8,000 on-site jobs by the end of 2014, when the plant completes a 2-year, $900 million expansion of more than 1,6 million square feet of production and logistics space.
"Additional team members are needed immediately to support our future model strategy, that will now include four BMW models," said Manfred Erlacher, president of BMW Manufacturing.
"BMW's projected global sales forecast is very encouraging. An increase in staffing is required to respond to this continued, strong global demand."
BMW spokeswoman Sky Foster said the new jobs will be hired by MAU Inc., BMW Manufacturing's contract staffing partner.
Applicants should attend the job fair at Spartanburg Community College (Middle Tyger Campus) on Monday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Applicants can also apply online at www.mau.com/bmwjobs.
The jobs include health, dental, 401(k) and vacation benefits.
