ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a 76-year-old woman killed outside her Anderson County home was in a shootout with would-be robbers.
Coroner Greg Shore says Dorothy Hendrix died from bleeding from wounds to her shoulder and abdomen.
Hendrix died outside her home at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Authorities say she pulled up and shot at three men who appeared to be waiting to rob her.
Authorities say a neighbor reported gunshots at the home. When deputies arrived, they found Hendrix dead and a man who had been shot in the stomach. Lt. Sheila Cole says Hendrix's purse was found near the man.
The man was taken to a hospital. Two other men left in a car, which was found abandoned at a nearby intersection.
No arrests have been made.
