Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Soon you will be able to buy an iPhone 5S or 5C without a contract at Walmart stores, but don't expect typical huge Walmart price cuts.
In a report published Monday, the website Apple Insider says the two latest models of Apple's hugely popular iPhones will be available on the Straight Talk and NET10 pay-as-you-go mobile calling plans starting Friday, Dec. 13th.
Walmart will make both phones available with financing, to customers who have a Walmart Credit Card, interest-free for 18 months for the 5C, and 24 months interest-free for the 5S.
Both model iPhones will be available with 16-gigabyte storage capacity, with the 5S priced at $649, and the 5C priced at $549; Walmart is one of the few retailers permitted by Apple to discount pricing, so both iPhone models are being offered at a $50 price cut from the standard retail prices.
Straight Talk, partially owned by Walmart, and NET10 will offer buyers month-to-month plans that include texting, data, unlimited national voice service, along with unlimited international calling for select countries, with pricing between $45 and $65 per month. NET10 subscribers also have access to a "Friends And Family" plan that offers additional lines discounted $10 off pricing per line.
