Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The 2013 Stuff-a-Bus campaign is now complete, and it was another big success--thanks to people like you!
Friday, News19 once again asked people to donate toys and canned goods to fill up transit buses. It was the second Friday of the campaign.
This week, we were out at the Sumter Walmart, the Walmart in Harbison, and the Walmart on Two Notch Road in Richland County.
While final totals are not in yet, thousands of toys and plenty of food were collected.
Over the next week and a half, these items will be given to families in need who signed up for holiday assistance from the Salvation Army.
We want to thank all of you plus all the businesses, civic groups, schools, and law enforcement agencies who came out and donated last week and this week.
Stuff-a-Bus is a partnership between WLTX, the Salvation Army, the COMET-Central Midlands Transit, SWRTA, Walmart, and Clear Channel. This was the 11th year of the campaign.
All donations are processed and distributed through the Salvation Army to families who have demonstrated the need for assistance. The COMET-Central Midlands Transit and SWRTA provides the empty buses to be filled, and Walmart donates space in their parking lots.
