Boykin, SC (WLTX) -- The Boykin Christmas Parade is a yearly event that attracts folks from all over and getting a good seat could mean setting up a day early.
"If you haven't seen it, you definitely need to come try it," Mark Bass said.
Bass and his family haven't missed the Boykin Christmas parade in the last five years.
He said his children practically dragged them out the door.
"They've been asking, they've been ready since this morning. Since they got up," Bass said.
On a stretch of road about a mile long floats, trucks and animals of all kinds go by.
And if you want prime seating, it takes dedication.
"Well, to get a good spot people normally come and come park a vehicle about a day early or so," Bass said.
Dawson Evans has never been to the parade before.
When I first drove down here I was looking around, I was like, 'Wow, they're tailgating almost like a football game for a parade. That's really cool,'" Evans said.
And neither has Isabel Serrano, a foreign exchange student from Madrid who lives with Evans and her family.
"The parades that we do in Spain they're mostly in the city so you don't get to sit down to eat. When I came here I was like, 'Wow this is a really good parade. You can sit down, you can eat," Serrano said.
"This is nothing that I've ever experienced, this is so great. It was constantly 'Oh look at that, that's really cool,'" Evans said.
Although the experience was unexpected, the teens give the parade rave reviews.
"I just love it. I love the wrecking ball one, I love the old cars. I didn't know they were going to do that and I actually loved it a lot. I really liked it and I just didn't expect all this," Serrano said.
"When's the next parade? I'm going," Evans said.
