Three Arrested in Dispute with Deputies

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department have arrested a father and son on charges of assaulting officers, and a third person on a drug charge.

Andrew B. Miller, 60, and Andrew C. Miller, 20, have each been charged with assault on a police officer, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Sheriff Leon Lott said that deputies responded to recover a runaway juvenile that was supposed be at 600 Summer Crest Road in Columbia.  Andrew C. Miller opened the door and the deputy smelled marijuana coming from inside.

He then tried to close the door on the deputy, and attempted to hit the Deputy.

Lott said that additional Deputies responded to the incident, and as they were arresting Andrew C. Miller, the father, Andrew B. Miller, stepped in and began to assault the deputies.  Both father and son were taken into custody.

Deputies also arrested Reynerio Romero, 19, and charged him with simple possession of marijuana.

All three men were taken to the Richland County Jail.

The juvenile was recovered at the location and returned to his parents.
