FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Tom Rice is proposing that the House of Representatives sue the Obama administration for overstepping the powers of the executive branch.
Rice introduced the resolution late last week. His website on Monday said the resolution, entitled "Stop This Overreaching Presidency," now has 30 co-sponsors.
The lawsuit says the administration has frequently overstepped the limits placed on the executive branch by the Constitution.
The lawsuit notes several examples, including the administrative response to those who lost health insurance under the Affordable Care Act and a policy to granting temporary status to immigrants who entered the national illegally as children.
The resolution would have the House bring civil action against the administration in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.
