Suspect in Deputies' Shooting Rants in Court

Bishopville, SC (WLTX) - The suspect in the shooting of two Lee County deputies had an emotional appearance in court Friday.

Yahchanan Christopher Reames, was there for a bond hearing. Reames is accused of shooting Cpl. Shante Demary and Sgt. Leroy Durant Thursday afternoon following a traffic stop.

During the hearing, Reames began to complain loudly about his treatment while in custody in front of the court.

The judge denied him bond.

Demary was hit in the leg, while Durant was shot in the abdomen. However, Sheriff Daniel Simon says Durant's life was saved by his bulletproof vest. Previous Coverage: Sheriff Says Vest Save Deputy's Life

Both officers injuries are described as non life-threatening. Reames was shot in the arm during the struggle, but was quickly treated and released from the hospital.
