Duncan, SC -- Arvato Digital Services is closing its Duncan facility this year, leaving up to 130 full-time workers without a job.

The closure is based on excess capacity and costs in Arvato's supply chain business, said Tom Goben, vice president of operations.

"With three North American sites focused on these same services it was determined that business levels were not sufficient to support this level of supply chain network and infrastructure," he said.

Duncan is one of six U.S. locations for Arvato, who's website shows worldwide employment of more than 68,000 for the Germany-based company.

Goben said other U.S. sites aren't expected to be impacted. Customers of the Duncan facility will be relocated to Arvato facilities in Louisville, Ky., and Pleasant Prairie, Wisc.

Workers impacted include those in distribution and logistics, management, operations supervision, and administrative and account services, the company said.

Goben said employees at the 300,000-square-foot Duncan facility will receive job search assistance and opportunities for severance as the company transitions its customers over the next several months, completing the closure by June 30.
