Chicago, IL (WLTX) - Former South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been added to the roster for the upcoming NFL Pro Bowl.

Jeffery, who's now with the Chicago Bears, replaced Detroit's Calvin Johnson, who can't play in the game because of an injury. Jeffery was originally an alternate for the team.

In his second season, Jeffery finished sixth in the NFL with 1,421 receiving yards. He also had 89 receptions, which is the sixth-highest total in Bears history.

"Just being from where I came from to where I am now, what I'm doing, it's just special to be part of the success we're having as a team," Jeffery said in a statement released by the Bears.

Jeffery went to high school at Calhoun County High, where he became one of the most recruited players in the country at his position.

Jeffery set the Gamecocks' single season receiving yards (1,517) and receptions (88) records in 2010. He was drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Bears.
