Bicycle Maker to Bring 175 Jobs to Clarendon County

Clarendon County, SC (WLTX) - A bicycle company is coming to Clarendon County, brining with it 175 new jobs.

A statement from Governor Nikki Haley's office confirmed that Kent International plans to build their manufacturing facility there.

The company makes both bicycles and parts. It's set to supply Walmart with its first U.S. bicycles. The company also supplies goods to Amazon, Toys R Us, and Academy Sporting Goods.

"It's exciting to see a leading manufacturer, like Kent Bicycles, choose South Carolina to manufacture bicycles, a mainstay of an American childhood," Gov. Haley said in a statement. "We celebrate the company's decision to create at least 175 new jobs and produce a half a million bicycles annually in Clarendon County."

The new facility represents at $4.3 million investment.
