New York, NY (WLTX) -- Reports out of CBS New York this morning say Scott Bakula is joining the NCIS franchise for a spinoff.
Set in New Orleans, the series will follow cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. According to CBS, "New Orleans, with its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery, is a magnet for military personnel on-leave. And with fun comes trouble. It is a natural backdrop for a unique character driven spin-off."
Bakula will portray Special Agent Pride, a character described as conducting his work with passion, strength and humor.
The show will have a two-episode spinoff introduction of the new cast and storyline later this spring, and Mark Harmon, along with one of the main Executive Producers of the NCIS franchise, Gary Glasberg are guiding the spinoff.
Scott Bakula played a role in "Behind the Candleabra" alongside Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, and has a long list of credits that include his lead role in "Quantum Leap" in the 90's, "Star Trek: Enterprise," and more recently "Desperate Housewives" and "Men of a Certain Age."
