Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg says there have been sightings of bats inside the hospital.

The hospital told News19 Tuesday that the animals were first noticed over the weekend. Officials with the Regional Medical Center say they believe the problem may be connected to a recent roofing project.

Hospital Public Relations Director Jane Carson says there have been no reports of injury or bites to patients, staff, or visitors, and they're taking every measure to ensure their safety.

The hospital says they're working to address the issue, but say it's hard because South Carolina laws limit what measures can be taken to eliminate bats.
