Passenger Killed in Orangeburg Wreck Sunday

Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) -- The passenger of a car, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and killed in a crash here Sunday evening.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly, the crash happened at the intersection of Five Chop Road and Bozart Road in Orangeburg just after 6:00PM Sunday.

Wimberly reports that the driver of the car, a 2009 Pontiac, disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and struck an embankment, ejecting the passenger.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next-of-kin.

The driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
