(Williamsport, PA) - An eleven-year-old Pennsylvania boy is dead from drowning after a rip current pulled him into the Atlantic
Ocean as he swam with his father and sister at Myrtle Beach.
Authorities say Dennis Brock the Third was separated from his family and pulled into the ocean. A rip current is a fast-moving channel of water that flows out faster than water coming into the beach.
Police say the family called for help and off-duty lifeguards who were surfing nearby responded to the call. The father and daughter were saved, but they could not find the boy.
His body was discovered earlier this week near the beach where he had been swimming.
The boy and his sister, Deaubre, lived with their mother in Susquehanna Township but were visiting their father who lives in Florence, South Carolina.
