(Irmo) - Video of a brawl between two girls at local high school has been leaked on the Internet.
The fight occurred last week at Irmo High School, according to a spokesperson for the Lexington Richland Five School District. They say a student using a camera phone taped the incident. Footage of the fight was posted on YouTube and has been viewed more than 2,000 times, according to the website.
"I heard about it today," explained Jenifer Rodgers, a freshman at Irmo High School. "There were a whole bunch of people crowded around a computer, and I went over and saw. There were two students fighting on the computer."
The video shows the students punching, pulling hair, and one student banging the other’s head against a wall. School officials say the two girls were suspended for eight days. The student who recorded the fight received a two-day suspension.
"She knew she could have stopped it," said Benjamin Rodgers, whose daughter attends Irmo High School. "It's like being an accessory before and after the fact." School officials say the student who taped the incident violated school policy by aiding and abetting a fight.
Cell phone usage is only banned inside of classrooms, according to district officials. However, if more fight footage is leaked on the Internet, school officials say they will consider revising that policy.
