LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Gwinnett County police have charged a 17-year-old with murder in the deaths of his mother, a sheriff's deputy, and his two sisters.
Police spokeswoman Corporal Illana Spellman identifies the son as Anthony Tyrone Terrell Junior. She says he is being held in custody in the neighboring DeKalb County Jail in the shooting deaths of Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston of Lawrenceville and her two young daughters, ages 4 and 11.
Spellman says the motive for the killings is still under investigation.
Authorities found the three dead at their home last night.
Police say offices responding to a call of shots fired about 8 p.m. yesterday in the Madison Chase subdivision found a bullet hole in a house next door. Schiralli says they went to the home where the shots were fired and found the 11-year-old dead inside the front door. Just inside, they found the deputy.
The officers then went upstairs and found the 4-year-old.
The sheriff's department says the deputy had been with the department for seven years and was assigned to the Sex Offender unit.
Police spokesman David Schiralli says the son arrived at the house about 35 minutes later and met with investigators.
