Land O' Lakes, Florida (WTSP) - A Pasco County man was bitten by an alligator that parked itself under his car.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says 38-year-old Joseph Cannistra of Land O'Lakes saw something under his car early Sunday morning. Thinking it was his dog, he reached underneath the car and was bitten on his hands by a five foot alligator.
A neighbor says he saw the same alligator at his front door earlier in the day. Ed Prietr says, "Well, actually, I can count my blessings today because my neighbor had called me and let me know that I had a gator at my door, so I went ahead and opened the sliding door in the back and came out and looked at it, you know. But if it would have been a regular Sunday morning, where we were going on our way to church, that would have been something else, you know, we would have had a scary situation again."
The alligator was captured by wildlife officers and will be euthanized since it was injured during the capture. Meanwhile, Joseph Cannistra has been treated and released from University Community Hospital
