West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - An 18-year-old West Virginia woman who reportedly was sexually assaulted and thrown from the balcony of a Myrtle Beach motel has been found in West Columbia.
Police confirmed she was found there, but could not give further details Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, her mother filed a missing person's report on her.
According to an incident report, the woman was sexually assaulted by 17-year-old Cody James Epley of Swansea before she was tossed over a balcony at the Sea Dunes Hotel by two men at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Epley was charged with first degree assault.
The victim's mother filed the missing persons report at about 7 a.m. Tuesday, after telling the police that she had not heard from her daughter. A friend of the victim told the mother that the victim had left the hospital with two men she had met the night before.
The mother told police that she thought that the men knew Epley.
Hospital employees told police that the 18-year-old was not in distress when she left with the men, and the woman said she was excited to travel to Columbia with them, according to the missing persons report. The victim's injuries were not serious.
Witnesses did not provide a description of the men, according to the report.
